Commersphere Privacy Policy

Protection of privacy is a prime concern of most users of the Internet, and at Commersphere, we are acutely aware of and sensitive to the privacy concerns of persons who utilize the facilities provided on our website.

Personal Information

Other than aggregate usage statistics (see below), Commersphere will not collect personal information of any kind unless you provide it explicitly, or unless required by the event administrator for regulatory compliance. In the event that information is being collected for regulatory compliance, an explicit notification to that effect will display in your profile page. Personal information that you provide to Commersphere is accessible only to the event administrator, and will not be displayed or transferred to any other individual or organization unless you authorize the said display or transfer - which can occurs in the following scenarios only:

Advanced Networking Profile: Where online networking is enabled, if you select 'Advanced Networking' as your online networking profile, you will be able to view the names, positions, and organizations of other attendees choosing this profile - and they will likewise be able to view your name, position, and organization. Specific contact information, including email address and phone number, will not be accessible to other users unless you initiate contact with them, as described below. If you wish to remain hidden from other attendees, select 'Anonymous' as your profile.

Messaging Other Attendees: If you utilize the Commersphere messaging system in order to contact another user, the recipient will be granted access to view your online business card - which includes contact information that you choose to designate, such as your email address and phone number. The messaging window includes a reminder that your business card will be included when the message is sent.

Selected Resource Access: A Commersphere exhibitor may designate a specified resource as being accessible to a user only upon provision of the user's online business card. In that scenario, you will be notified of the said requirement prior to accessing the resource in question, and you will be offered the choice whether or not to access the said resource on the basis of those terms.

Authentication: To access a Commersphere account, a user must sign in with verified authentication credentials. As a convenience, Commersphere will by default manage authentication on your behalf, generating authentication credentials and storing them as browser cookies and/or as database tokens. You can choose to opt out of Commersphere's managed sign-in option whenever you sign in, and instead manually enter a password in order to authenticate. If you select the manual sign-in option, your sign-in email address will be stored as a browser cookie in order to expedite the sign-in process in subsequent visits. Please note that in all cases, authentication credentials are used solely in order to enable you to securely access the platform, and are not used for tracking or capturing any other personal information.

Usage Statistics:  Commersphere collects aggregate statistical data relating to the accessing of online facilities and/or resources by Commersphere users, and makes the data available for viewing by administrators and/or exhibitors for analytic purposes. In each instance of usage data collection, the information captured includes the user's internal ID and a specific action code. The compiled statistics are stripped of all user-specific information and comprise general usage trends only, such that no personal information can be extracted by the viewers of the said statistics.

Duration of Storage:  Your event-specific information will be stored only as long as the event is running on the Commersphere platform. When the event is deleted, your event information will be deleted as well. Your core account information - comprised of your name and email, as well as any information you may have defined in your online business card - will be retained as long as there are additional events in which you are registered. If you are no longer registered in any event, you will have the option to delete your account and all associated information.

While no data system can absolutely guarantee the security of its information under any and all circumstances, Commersphere employs a broad array of security mechanisms to minimize the chances of inadvertent or deliberate loss, theft, or alteration of your personal information.
